4. Johnny Depp - The tattoo visible here, fittingly, shows a sparrow flying over the water above the name Jack. Depp's son is named Jack and his famous "Pirates" character is Jack Sparrow.

7. Rihanna - Star tattoos cascade down the neck and back of singer Rihanna in New York on Nov. 23, 2009. She also sports an R on her shoulder blade, timed to the release of her 2009 album "Rated R."
8. Kelly Osbourne - The daughter of the man who famously tattooed "OZZY" across his knuckles sports a variety of tattoos herself. Kelly Osbourne, at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Feb. 3, 2011, has two skull tattoos on her feet, angel wing tattoos on her back, a synthesizer on her arm and an anchor tattoo on her opposite arm.
9. Justin Bieber - A shirtless Justin Bieber escorts girlfriend Selena Gomez after stepping on the beach while in Hawaii at the end of May, 2011. The Canadian pop idol sports a vertical inscription down the left side of his rib cage reading "Yeshua," which means "Jesus" in Hebrew.

11. Hayden Panettiere - Actress Hayden Panettiere arrives at the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Sunday, Jan. 11. The former "Heroes" star has "Vivere senza rimipianti" tattooed on her side. The Italian phrase translates to "To live without regrets," but the regret here is that it's spelled without an i after the m.

He also sports a winged cross on the back of his neck and what he describes as a guardian angel between his shoulder blades.
17. Christina Ricci, in Cannes, France, on May 19, 2008, is said to have at least eight tattoos, the largest of which is Aslan, the Great Lion from "The Chronicles of Narnia," on her right shoulder blade.

19. Diablo Cody in Hollywood, Calif., on May 8, 2009. A pinup girl in a bikini is proudly displayed on the bicep of the "Juno" screenwriter. But the roses that sit behind the female figure cover what used to say "Jonny's Girl," a reference to her former husband, whom she split with in 2007.
20. Miley Cyrus, performing in Paraguay on May 10, 2011, has a reported seven tattoos. The teen pop star's first ink read "Just Breathe" on the left side of her rib cage. Since then she's added "LOVE" on the inside of her right ear, a heart on her right pinkie finger and a dream catcher on her right side under her arm, among others.
23. Lady Gaga discusses her tattoo from a Rilke poem on a German talk show on Nov. 7, 2009. The inscription reads: "In the deepest hour of the night, confess to yourself that you would die if you were forbidden to write. And look deep into your heart where it spreads its roots, the answer, and ask yourself, must I write?"

Mike Tyson, pictured in L.A. in May 2011, has a number of tattoos, including Argentine revolutionary Che Guevera's head on the left side of his torso.But no tat is as talked about, especially in the spring of 2011, as the Maori symbol around his left eye. When Tyson showed up in "The Hangover," and his tattoo showed up in "The Hangover II" (on the face of Ed Helms), legal trouble ensued as the man who did Tyson's ink sued Warner Bros. for a copyright violation and tried to block the film's release.
25. Melanie Griffith got a tattoo with "Antonio," to honor her third husband, Antonio Banderas, on her right arm in honor of their fourth anniversary together.

Steve-O of "Jackass" fame has an ever-growing number of tattoos all over his body, including a large self-portrait of himself across his back underlined with his signature and the words, "yeah dude, I rock!" and the head of Sonny Robbins, the owner of Sonny's Bar and Grill in Albuquerque, N.M., on his right shoulder. When the bar was sold he added a sword jammed through the head.
27. Hulk Hogan is happy with his many tattoos, including the word "immortal" across his shoulder blades. Here, he sports "I am that I am," a quote from Exodus, which he got in 2009 with his future wife Jennifer McDaniel (she just got "Terry" on her wrist, after Hogan's real name, Terry Bollea.)
28. Jaime King does reportedly regret some of her tattoos, since they have to be covered up with makeup when she makes movies, but that hasn't stopped her from adding them on. Currently, her tats include her surname, a star and a fairy (on her back) and a diamond and a spade on her wrists. In 2009 she discussed getting a a quote from Emily Dickinson on her body, which would read, "If I can stop one heart from breaking. I shall not live in vain; If I can ease one life the aching; or cool one pain, or help one fainting robin unto his nest again, I shall not live in vain."
29. Adam Levine sports several tattoos, including triple 2's on his forearm (the first studio his band recorded in), the name of his hometown (Los Angeles) on his shoulder, a guitar on his forearm and a tiger on the other as well as a dove and cherry blossoms done in memory of 9/11.

Lil Wayne is almost fully covered in tattoos, many of which have autobiographical meanings, including fissures near his scalp, the words "a gun" on his palm, a Fleur-de-lis to represent his New Orleans origins and the words "I Am Music" on his face; he also has an extensive prayer across the right side of his back, vein tattoos on one side of his chest and the words "Fear God" on his eyelids.
31. Courtney Love's tattoos isn't all that hard: She tends to tweet pictures of them as she gets them done. Among the body art she sports are the words "Let it Bleed" on her inner upper right arm (after the Rolling Stones album), an angel on her right shoulder and multiple small flowers across her arms and chest.
32. Benji Madden (right, with twin Joel, also in the band) can be very patriotic with his tattoos: He's got one of Ben Franklin across his entire back. But he's got several that reflect his Christian beliefs, too -Jesus-related tats make at least three appearances on his body. He's also got Alice in Wonderland, a large crown that reads "Mom" below it and the words "Made Man" on his knuckles.

Kelly Ripa - She's not inked very heavily, but "Live with Regis and Kelly" co-host Kelly Ripa does sport a rose, heart and eave tattoo on her left ankle, something she called a "a symbol of my youthful stupidity," which she got at age 19. But apparently she's not afraid to still be "stupid" -- in 2010 she displayed her latest tattoo, on her wrist: The word "Consuelos," after her husband of 13 years, Mark Consuelos.
34. Alyssa Milano is a minefield of tattoos, including a rosary on her back, a cross and angel on one ankle (with the initials of a former lover included), a wraparound chain of red roses and green leaves on the other ankle, and the Buddhist symbol for "depth of wisdom and unity" on the back of her neck.
35. Paz de la Huerta is quite proud of the cobra tattoo she has, which reaches from her lower leg on to her foot, and happily showed it off at the "Boardwalk Empire" premiere in Atlantic City, N.J., in 2010.
36. Nicky Hilton - What tattoo becomes a hotel heiress best? Her hotel-famous last name, of course, which appears on the lower back of Nicky Hilton. But she's also got a small heart on her ankle and a cross on the back of her neck.
37. Nicki Minaj honors her Chinese heritage with a tattoo on her left arm that translates into "God is with me always."
38. Alanis Morissette likes to feature words (and a few images) on her body, including "breathe" and "gentle" and a reclining orange tiger on her forearm.
39. Brittany Daniel sports a Thai tattoo given to her by well-known tattoo artist Ajarn Nu, to create a "Yantra," which is considered a protective form of Thai tattoo. His technique, however, is not for the squeamish, and can be very painful to the subject.
40. Anna Nalick sports two word-based tattoos on her back, "There is a blaze of light," a quote from songwriter Leonard Cohen, and "Fear not for the future, weep not for the past," a quote from poet Percy Bysshe Shelley.
41. Audrina Partridge is no stranger to tattoos -- she features a heart dressed up like a berry on the back of her neck -- but she completely fooled everyone in 2009 when she wore an arm-length collection of Chinese characters that loosely translated into "the rice is fried in pork fat" for Ashton Kutcher's TV show "Pop Fiction."
42. Katy Perry wears a number of tattoos, including a strawberry on her ankle and the word "Jesus" on her inner left wrist. The one that appears on her right bicep is a match with husband Russell Brand's, and reads "anuugacchati pravaha," which means "go with the flow."

Billie Joe Armstrong's tattoos cover many parts of his body, but his right arm is one of the busiest areas and includes: the names of his wife and son (Adrienne, Joseph) two praying angels, a patch of roses, the words "all ages" with a star on each side, the Japanese symbols for "pinhead" and "pot," and a photo filmstrip of Adrienne.
44. Nicole Richie (with husband Joel Madden) shows off her tattoo wings and a small bit of her maiden name on her neck. She has a number of other tattoos as well, including a rosary bead and cross that encircles her left ankle, appearing to dangle on her foot.
45. Jennifer Love Hewitt knows how to wear a tattoo: She prefers temporary ones, and has been spotted with them often over the years. But her only real tattoo (at this time) is the words "I am..." near the heel of her right foot.

Zoe Saldana surprised attendees of the 2010 Costume Institute Gala Benefit at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, when she bared a new tattoo (she has one in Arabic script on her ankle that reportedly reads -- or mis-reads -- "I want to ask her") on the left side of her back. But this one also remains a mystery; reports say it's in Farsi or Arabic and may be too messy to read.
47. Travis Barker's tattoos could take all day; his body is virtually covered but includes: Cadillac emblems, a boom box radio, stars, hearts, pinup girls, script, fire and flame, smoke, musical notes, and flags.
48. Slash has several complex tattoos on various body parts (including a top-hatted skull with the letters "DTYD" -- drink 'til you drop -- on his left arm. But the one the rocker is showing off here is a silhouette known as the "VR girl" -- one of the logos representing the guitarist's band Velvet Revolver.
49. Penelope Cruz expresses her love for numerology with an "883" on her ankle, and her religious devotion with a crucifix on the back of her right hand.
50. Jessica Szohr has several personally-meaningful tattoos, including a check mark on her right arm, which she says is her mother's nickname, a cherub/angel on her right foot, and a number on her left arm that corresponds to her grandparents' anniversary.
51. Pete Wentz (of "Fall Out Boy") has at least two armfuls of tattoos, including a sleeve of characters from "The Nightmare Before Christmas." But he recently made news when he got a tattoo of friend Gabe Saporta's (of "Cobra Starship") face after losing a bet. He put Saporta's face on his calf, along with the inscription, "Gabey Baby Made Me Go Bad."

53. Lindsay Lohan once quoted Marilyn Monroe with a tattoo that read, "Everyone's a star and deserves the right to twinkle." Shown here, however, is just a lone star on her wrist.
54. Mary J. Blige has several tattoos around her body, including a delicate stemmed rose on her right thigh, a butterfly on her back and two guardian angels above her hips. Here, she sports an elaborate cross on her left arm.
55. Scarlett Johansson has a colorful sunrise tattoo on the inside of her left arm and says it has a special meaning, but don't expect to learn the secret. She's been quoted as saying, "It makes me happy when I look at it, but the reason I had it done is very personal. Some things have to remain private."
56 Keith Urban loves his wife Nicole Kidman, and says so with his "Nicole" tattoo, which features hearts in the corners on his right bicep. His right wrist features a Celtic symbol with her initials, and there's a thunderbird on his inner left arm.
57. The late Amy Winehouse was a tattoo devotee and sported the name "Blake's" over her heart, referring to her former husband Blake Fielder; she also wore an upside-down horseshoe for good luck and a pinup girl on her arm.
